STEM Learning is in continuous pursuit of making learning a stimulative and exploratory process. With rich resource of subject experts and experienced teaching faculties, STEM has pioneered and promoted demonstration-based learning approach wherein it has designed over 1000 working demos, models, visual aids and experiments which are showcased among school children in form of science centres and math labs. These interactive, entertaining and informative centres open a new dimension for the children to watch-observe- question-learn. The experiments and models give the children a first-hand exposure to popular scientific theories and principles. The experience fascinates and ignites the young mind with the right scientific temper. Consequently, children grasp science and math theories comfortably and show willingness to move to the next level of knowledge.
HSBC and United Ways are creating a bright future for India.
Being part of the vision of STEM Learning, to ensure equal opportunity to learn for all, HSBC and United Ways have taken the first step by installation of the Mini Science Centre at Lonker School Mundwa to growing to 8 more schools in the urban rural area. A great example of a complete CSR activity and employee volunteering, with over 75 employee volunteers installing and activating the Mini Science Centres with 29 teachers actively participating in this great cause to enable students to have a first-hand exposure to scientific concepts in an easy and interesting way.
Education is the act of learning things around us. It helps us to easily understand and deal with any problem
and makes balance throughout the whole life in every aspect. Without education we are incomplete and our
lives are useless. Education helps us to set a goal and go ahead by working on that throughout the life.
Education brings maturity and teaches us to live in society with changing environment. It is the way to social
development, economic growth and technological development. It improves our knowledge, skill, confidence
level and personality.
Every child must to go school in his/her appropriate age as everyone has equal rights for the education from
birth. The growth and development of any country depends on the quality of education system set for young
ones in the schools and colleges.
Proper education identifies our career goals and teaches us to live. We cannot imagine our life without
education as without it we cannot develop a healthy surrounding and generate an advance community.
Everything in life is based on the knowledge and skill of the people which ultimately comes from education.
Some people are completely uneducated and living very painful life because of the lack of knowledge and skill.
Some people are educated but do not have enough skill to earn money for their daily routine just because of
the lack of proper education system in the backwards areas. Thus we should try to have equal opportunities of
good education system for everyone whether living in rich or poor regions. A country cannot grow and develop
without the individual growth and development of its citizens. Thus the development of any country depends
hugely on the education standard available to its citizens. A good education system must have common goals
in every areas of country to provide a suitable and proper learning to its citizens.

THE CHANGE ON THE HORIZON
Stem Learning’s Mini Science Centres have adequately established themselves in several schools and the experience has clubbed together with the rural educational feel, in other words the Centres have become part of the community. This is brought about by the comforting feel radiated by the Science Centres and all its friendly yet playful instruments that according to many teachers pull the attention and unadulterated interest of the child. These Science Centres are slowly but steadily giving birth to genuine Inspiration.
Stem Learning is also leading a trail of breadcrumbs to better and enthusiastic teaching practises through its Teacher training seminars. Here teachers are exposed to a variety of new ideas, techniques and share their practices coming out of the experience as better teachers.
While this will not change the face of rural education in days, it’s certainly a step in the right direction. There is certainly a rural educational crisis and the best way to remedy that is to join in on the efforts.
What are the ideal circumstances required to facilitate effective learning? While some may say; technology in the classrooms, others may say expensive textbooks are the way to go. But in the sectors of rural India where even the question of basic necessities like electricity haven't been met, the whole idea of effective learning takes on an entirely new meaning.
Each sector or region in the rural communities face different issues when it comes to the fulfilment of education, let it be the lack of teachers or even the unavailability of raw material like desks and blackboards for the classroom there will always be something lacking because What we lack is the vitamin M, which in this case means motivation. While some of you have certainly thought that I was referring to money you are not wrong, but money is like food to a hungry fat man, No matter how much you throw at the problem, it will never be enough.
Motivation has always been a major issue when it comes to education in the rural sector considering most kids end up joining in the family business, which is usually farming and farming related activities. The importance is placed more on kids understanding the family trade rather than the various career options opened up by the key we call Education. While we might be living in the 21st century there are mindsets still in the stone-age, but that is slowly changing. STEM Learning’s educational initiatives have been pushing the boundaries of what education really stands for, with a plethora of activities to engage the minds of teachers and students alike, stem learning is pioneering in not just educational reform but also social reform.
The potential of Mini Science Centres: We depend so much on the sense of touch yet we don’t understand its impact, for example we feel relaxed when a gust of cool breeze touches our skin or even energised when the early morning sunrays hit our face, we also originally learnt to count on our fingers which was only accomplished because of the sense of touch yet today in education learning through touch is almost unheard of, STEM is here to change that.
Giving children to explore their learning styles will empower them beyond our wildest imagination, it will guide them, motivate them, and even inspire them to go beyond the call of primary education. If this idea reaches even 25% of schools in India we are bound to see a major change in this country.
The Kinaesthetic classroom: STEM Learning has created the Mini Science Centre, a place where children and teachers can really look at the working of scientific principal through a working model. The models are MSCERT approved and can stand the test of time and the test of rough child use. The provided models are colourful and bound to spark interest in children especially from the rural background.
Enhancing the Classroom Experience: There are several types of learners out there, visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, etc. which means that different children learn differently. But almost all learners have the kinaesthetic learning ability in them to some extent, which mean they learn from touch. These kids need to touch the idea to get a real grasp on the principle, but instead they are subjected to a person simply talking about the idea for hours together. So how do they learn? The answer is simple, they don’t!
This is detrimental for the development of science, so what can counter this age old inadequacy. Most modern schools are equipped with technology and equipment worth a fortune, but this is not the case for most rural schools. STEM Learning in association with several major companies together provide rural schools all over India with Scientific models that quite easily tickle the imagination and scientific temper of young children.
